Dear Partners
Believe it or not, I am officially retired since Sept 1st, 2013.
After forty years of teaching and international commitment it is time to pass the torch to the next generation and, for my part, explore new territories during my ‘second spring’, as the Chinese so elegantly call it.
For over 15 years ISCID-CO and your university have exchanged students, teachers and cooperated in various academic programs. It’s been a privilege to work with you and your colleagues for the mutual benefit of our institutions. I can assure you that, of these 120 partnerships, every single one has made a special mark on my mind. But let me be clear: my greatest source of satisfaction lies in the memorable moments we have shared during institutional visits or at international conferences (NAFSA, EAIE and SPACE) and the genuine friendships we have created and nurtured.
As the new academic year starts, I am pleased to leave you in the hands of Ms Anne-Marie Gorisse, the new Head of ISCID-CO’s International Office and her two international coordinators, Sophie Terrier for the St Omer Campus and Emmanuel Buteau for the Dunkerque Campus. All of you have already worked with them and seen how dedicated and committed they are to international cooperation. With them at the helm, the future for cooperation with ISCID-CO is bright.
Last, but not least, let me say that this e-mail is not an ‘Adieu’, it is merely an ‘Au Revoir’. I have many interesting plans for the years to come and one of those is to capitalize on the international experience I have gained during my career. Part of my ‘second spring time’ will be dedicated to launching and growing my own consulting agency in international education. So doing, I am convinced that our paths will cross again and this will give us an opportunity to develop new ties and take our relationship to a new level.
